‘Most brutal murder in LA history’

Throughout the week-long trial, it was reported that prosecutor District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef and her co-counsel had hammered at the idea that Leibel had orchestrated the murder to mirror certain elements from the plot of book - about a scientist who experiments on a psychopathic killer to find a cure for evil.

The case made headlines in Canada, where his father, Lorne Leibel, a sailor on the country's 1976 Olympics team, built a fortune constructing homes in the Toronto area.
Leibel moved to California and lived off an allowance of about $US18,000 ($AU24,500) a month over a seven-year period until inheriting the majority of his mother's estate.

The Federal Government has allocated $25 million to the fourth round of the Mobile Black Spot Program. Man 'filmed women in changing rooms' at Gold Coast, police allege

A man has been charged after women were allegedly filmed as they were changing at a Gold Coast retail store on Sunday. Three women were filmed trying on clothes between 10.30am and 12pm at a Biggera Waters shopping centre. A 30-year-old Biggera Waters man was charged with three counts of making recordings in breach of privacy and was due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on June 18. Police have not been able to identify the women who were filmed and have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incidents to contact police.
